Dear Family and Friends,
I've read several books between my last book review and this one, but A MAN CALLED OVE is really worth a review...and definitely worth reading!
Ove is a wonderful character. Swedish, he's set in his ways, opinionated, cantankerous and oh, so contrary. But, as the author details story after story about Ove, we learn to love the good, moral, honest and righteous person he is...but he hides his kindness very well. He lives in a neighborhood of row houses and is the original "leave me alone" type of guy. His dear wife of 40 years...the only person who ever understood him...has passed away and he struggles every day to cope with the pain of that loss.
With humor, emotion and sensitivity, the author mingles past and present to give us a full appreciation of Ove...who he was and who he's become...and why. By the end of the book, Ove is definitely a reluctant hero.
Beautifully written, this author's debut novel is a resounding success...well worth the read.
