...and then there were four
May 7,2013

Hello again, dear viewers! I wanted to add four more art challenge pieces to the blogpot of The Vivere. Thanks for checking back so soon...

For THINK MONDAY-THINK ATC, some art with a "numbers" theme;
"sunrise/sunset" for INSPIRATION AVENUE, using a photo I took along a river in Namibia...aren't they sweet?

COLLAGE OBSESSION asked to see some "bears," so I used a photo I took years ago in northern Canada's polar bear country, Churchill. The aurora borealis is behind  them...that's what the sky looked like at night! Amazing, eh?

"Mothers" is the appropriate theme for TAKE A WORD...once more, a photo I took in Rwanda while gorilla trekking...
These were especially fun to do because I was able to use some of my own photos...a trip down memory lane for me...lovely!

Hugs 'til the next...and thanks,
abbyj

BACK ON TRACK...
July 25, 2012

'Try to live your best life!"
CRAZY AMIGO CHALLENGE  blog declared it's theme for the week would be decided by each participant and TAKE A WORD suggested the theme "messy."  I decided to combine the two and make a little soapbox comment about a very big disaster...a MESSY tragedy of major proportions...the senseless massacre in Colorado. I suggest that we all try to be the change we want to see in this world because clearly, things MUST change!!! The hugs and kisses as well as the flowers in the graffiti piece suggest a gentler, kinder approach toward others and toward  life itself.

I hope you've all had a happy, healthy, productive week. I've been getting stronger with each day and am almost back to normal...ready to return to Africa tomorrow (if the opportunity presented itself and if my husband would come with me!!) Instead, I must wait until next summer... I'm still unpacking the suitcase in my mind, filled with memories of another wonderful visit with my African families and friends...

Back in America, in my part of the country, summertime means the fish are jumping...the theme for this week's COLLAGE OBSESSION challenge blog. That's the case waaaay up north in Alaska, into Canada and all the way to the Arctic Circle where the polar bears are catching those jumping fish...they need them to survive!!! Here's a piece based on a photo I took when we were visiting with the polar bears in Churchill...northern Manitoba, Canada several years ago. Amazingly beautiful animals...

THINK MONDAY-THINK ATC, in the spirit of summer, declared their theme to be "summer rain." I really enjoyed this subject and worked on two pieces...

Finally, my year-long Art and Sole Postcard Challenge took us on a virtual trip to INDIA... and what a trip it was. Here are my card and my book page... I was very taken with the depth of spirituality in this country...beautiful people with wonderful, honest, reverent hearts.

I wish you all a gentle, happy week with many reasons to smile. Hope to see you for my next posting...thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,

AURORA BOREALIS near the ARCTIC CIRCLE

MAGICAL SKY
March 2, 2011

Several years ago, my husband and I, adventure travelers at heart, journeyed to the Arctic Circle to see the Polar Bears in their natural environment. We stayed in a tiny town in the remote, extreme northern part of Canada...a place where polar bears often roam the one-street town and end up in "polar bear jail..." punishment for their trespassing! They're tagged while in "jail" then returned to the wild the following  day. We were actually in town when, late one afternoon, an extraordinarily loud alarm sounded. One of the residents told us that it warned  the townspeople of the presence of a polar bear strolling through town. We all had to head to the nearest home or shop...get off the street...until the animal was caught and jailed. We were there at a time when the bears were hungry, after many months of not eating. They were waiting for the ice to melt so they could have access to their staple food...seals. Fortunately for us, we saw  numerous  polar bears...many with cubs of a variety of ages... AND, we experienced the beginning colors of the AURORA BOREALIS... the most extraordinary natural light show in existence!!
I thought I'd share the bears as well as the lights with you, hoping you'll be as inspired as I was! Conveniently, a challenge was issued by a blog called INSPIRATION AVENUE.  That challenge was to create a SKY-themed piece of art. I did...and here it is...the magic of THE AURORA BOREALIS!

Gorgeous, isn't it?

Please come back again...
