MY KIND OF ART 

February 4, 2017 

Hi Folks,

Yesterday was my Mom's birthday. She'd be 106 if alive today. My Mom, a teacher and a musician, was responsible for introducing me to one of the great  loves of my life...music! I thank her for that! Happy Birthday, Mom!!

I made time for some art challenges this week... finally. They're so much fun and a wonderful way to relax. I hope you've all had a somewhat relaxing, enjoyable week as well.

I'd like to share what I've done...thanks in advance for looking!

DIGITALMANIA's challenge was the first one I tackled. Participants were inspired by the art of one Emanuel M. Ologeanu, a Romanian mixed-media artist. Here's an example of his art...

 and here are some examples of mine;

DIGITAL WHISPER must have been thinking SPRING when they asked for a representation for swinging...

MIX IT MONTHLY wanted us to think about attending a Farmer's Market. I used a photo that I took at a market in France...

and finally, TAKE A WORD asked to see something in black and white with a bit of red.

Fun challenges ahead... First, for THE THREE MUSES challenge blog, the subject is one of my most favorite... a subject that holds incredible fascination for me and about which I've done a great deal of research...GYPSIES!

DIGITAL WHISPER chose their subject to be SHIPS... always a topic that holds mystery and adventure...

Finally, TRY IT ON TUESDAY was interested in the magic of SILHOUETTES...

REMEMBERING...and CHALLENGES

Hi Dear Ones,

For me, the month of February is a special time for remembering two of my closest and dearest...  my Mom's birthday was February 3rd...she gave me my love of music... and my Nana's was February 12th...she taught me how to love! In the photo above, there are four generations of women on my Mom's side...my Mom, Nana, Michelle (at 1 year 5 months,) and me! If we were to make that photo today, there'd be  an additional  generation... Michelle's daughter, Lilly, now 9!



 

On to the art challenges...TAKE A WORD asked to see something about "couples..." My art turned to romance!

 

SUNDAY POSTCARD ART only wanted to see "faces." My face is braving the snow...appropriate for a Central New York woman!

 

I did two pieces for THE THREE MUSES  this week because the first one..."word..." is a bit late to enter on their website. We were asked to pick one of our favorite words and illustrate it. The word I picked was a long word...  SESQUIPEDALIAN. I know many more sesquipedalians than I'd like!!

 

Their request for this week is a piece of art including a silhouette...

NATURE'S SILHOUETTES

BEAUTY in NATURE...DRAMATIC!

There's a wonderfully creative online art group called ARTchix  that issues challenges regularly. The current inspiration is to create a piece of art based on silhouettes found in our natural world.  I perused some of the many scenes from my EAST Africa photo arsenal, selected one, played with it a bit in PHOTOSHOP... and VOILA!!
