PLAYING WITH ART
May 13, 2014
Hi Family and Friends,
I trust your week has started on an up note...I've spent some of my time trying to work the pounds off at the gym, keeping my limbs and muscles stretched and loose, finishing a book that I loved (Sue Monk Kidd's THE INVENTION of WINGS) and creating some challenge blog digital art pieces on the computer. I'd like to share them with you.
SUNDAY POSTCARD ART asked for a creation with DOORS...I used a piece of graffiti I photographed long ago in Barcelona, Spain, put it on a door I photographed in Italy, and added a Central New York dog...
Next, TAKE A WORD was thinking back to times of CHILDHOOD...so was I, creating a mixed media and photoshopped piece...
and finally, for THE THREE MUSES, they challenged participating artists to create POSTAGE STAMP PEOPLE... I used the same stamp for both because I couldn't decide which to use...

Thanks for checking in...enjoy the rest of your week.
'Til my next,
Hugs,

TRAVELS BY POSTCARD
March 1, 2012

 "Inhale art...Exhale art...every day!"

I've been catching up... visiting countries and creating a relationship between two young men... via postcards...that will continue for 52 weeks! It's for Darcy Wilkinson's POSTCARD CHALLENGE 2012.  I completed several of the required countries last week, and finished the rest just yesterday. The story between the two young men continues as well...both are travelers. One travels for the Peace Corps (Jarrod- from New York) and one just for fun (Bahati- from a small tribal village in Ethiopia) ...to see the world.  I've included the postcards we were asked to do as well as the messages...

From CHINA:
  From FRANCE:
From BELGIUM:
 From WALES:
 ...And for THIS week, SWITZERLAND:
I'm curious as to what will be the next country to which we'll be asked to journey... tune in for the next posting! These virtual journeys are so much fun and tremendous learning experiences. Michael and I have traveled to many of the places thus far, so I've used my own photos...

My regular weekly blog challenges continue...I've managed to put up a few:
CREAVIL Challenge Blog wanted to see COLORS...
SO ARTFUL Challenges rang the bell for Tea Time...
Finally, THINK MONDAY-THINK ATC was interested in doors...always a favorite subject of mine for art!
It's been an artful week for me...and I've loved every minute of it!! I hope you're well and will join me for some virtual postcard traveling next week... Happy Weekend!

Hugs,

FRIENDSHIP AND ART

TREASURING FRIENDSHIP... ART  ALWAYS

August 19, 2011

"Years of fighting...surrendered to hospice"

The room was warm, fading daylight struggled to fill the room, her voice was barely discernible and the face that was always smiling held barely a smirk. The sound of children echoed nearby as two old friends visited for the first time in many months...perhaps for the last time...ever. We talked about big things and small, about yesterday and today...about tomorrow with faith and love. We were both wishful, but not hopeful.
Irm was one of my mother's nurses and she helped us both through some very difficult times...I'd like to think I was doing the same for her. I'm so grateful to have Irm in my life and in my heart;  she fought hard, had faith,  kept believing and followed all the rules... I'm so sad to see her losing that fight!

                              **************************

I've buried myself in art this week, more than usual I think. It's so therapeutic for my heart and soul...  Some blog challenges and a swap with one of my favorite online art groups...

SUNDAY POSTCARD ART asked for art about THE ORIENT
INSPIRATION AVENUE had the wintry feeling going on with ICY
COLLAGE OBSESSION asked "what's in the glass?"  FLOWERS, of course!
CRAZY AMIGOS wanted to see black, white and red art...
PAPER TRADERS ART BLOG is thinking "back to school," vintage style

Finally, one of my most favorite online art groups, PAPER TRADERS, has a swap going on now...the theme is OPENING DOORS. I must make 4 pieces of art with this theme, and send it to the swap host. She, in turn, swaps it for 4 OPENING DOORS pieces from another participant. It's so much  fun to receive  art from a cyber friend as well as it being a great learning opportunity...to see what others have done with the same theme! Here are my doors...opened and closed...

Thanks for stopping by  dear ones... please pray for my friend Irm. Hope to see you for my next posting...

CHALLENGE ART

BLOG ART CHALLENGES

February 22, 2011

When some of the blogs I frequently visit issue challenges to those who stop by, I'll often answer the call! Here are a few of my latest...
The THREE MUSES have declared TIME to be this week's theme. You can find their blog here.

SUNDAY POSTCARD ART called their theme as FACES. You can find them here...

Can you guess what TAKE A WORD MONDAY's theme is? You guessed it...DOOR!  You can find them here...

ART CREATIONS FRIDAY asked artists to use MUCHA'S  painting in their creations...and I did!  You can see part of it in the "stained glass window" and part in the background. You can find ART CREATIONS FRIDAY here.
I look forward to "seeing" you next time...thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to leave a comment...if you like! :o)  I'd like!!
