VISION BOARD and other art

Have you ever heard of a VISION BOARD... sometimes called a Vision Collage, Dream Board, Treasure Map, Vision Map...? It's a wonderful, graphic way to help you define and align with what you really want for yourself in the future... they make your dreams or goals more tangible and solid. They help you realize and commit to your vision. They're also a fun, creative activity. After combing through several  magazines for representations of my personal visions, I came up with the following Vision Board. Can you decipher my dreams and wishes for a better Abby? This will be  an annual thing for me as I change and grow. Maybe you'll try it...

 On to a few blog art challenges...

SUNDAY POSTCARD ART 's current interest is for a "fish out of water." I did two pieces for this...I like the second one better than the first!!  Do you?

 

TAKE A WORD requested "wild animals" as their theme. I was happy to use one of my photos from a recent trip to Kenya.

 

Finally, THE THREE MUSES didn't care what our art was about as long as it included some script, text or type.

BACK ON TRACK...

'Try to live your best life!"

CRAZY AMIGO CHALLENGE  blog declared it's theme for the week would be decided by each participant and TAKE A WORD suggested the theme "messy."  I decided to combine the two and make a little soapbox comment about a very big disaster...a MESSY tragedy of major proportions...the senseless massacre in Colorado. I suggest that we all try to be the change we want to see in this world because clearly, things MUST change!!! The hugs and kisses as well as the flowers in the graffiti piece suggest a gentler, kinder approach toward others and toward  life itself.

I hope you've all had a happy, healthy, productive week. I've been getting stronger with each day and am almost back to normal...ready to return to Africa tomorrow (if the opportunity presented itself and if my husband would come with me!!) Instead, I must wait until next summer... I'm still unpacking the suitcase in my mind, filled with memories of another wonderful visit with my African families and friends...

Back in America, in my part of the country, summertime means the fish are jumping...the theme for this week's COLLAGE OBSESSION challenge blog. That's the case waaaay up north in Alaska, into Canada and all the way to the Arctic Circle where the polar bears are catching those jumping fish...they need them to survive!!! Here's a piece based on a photo I took when we were visiting with the polar bears in Churchill...northern Manitoba, Canada several years ago. Amazingly beautiful animals...

THINK MONDAY-THINK ATC, in the spirit of summer, declared their theme to be "summer rain." I really enjoyed this subject and worked on two pieces...

Finally, my year-long Art and Sole Postcard Challenge took us on a virtual trip to INDIA... and what a trip it was. Here are my card and my book page... I was very taken with the depth of spirituality in this country...beautiful people with wonderful, honest, reverent hearts.

NEW ART...and FLOWERS ON PARK

New Challenges...and SPRING?

It's been such a busy time...not much time in one place...NOT conducive to good and regular blogging!! Those art blogs continue to challenge my artistic soul so I managed to eek out a few responses...

THREE MUSES asked artists to create a piece around a FISH theme...and TAKE A WORD requested art around the color GREEN...I thought this piece worked for both!

SUNDAY POSTCARD ART's theme was NUMBER 1...

One of my regular online art groups, PAPER TRADERS, announced its current word prompt for our journals...COURAGE. I'm not sure whether the skateboarder (an image transfer) in this piece is COURAGEOUS or STUPID!!!

CRAZY AMIGOS asked that we create a "buttons and lace" piece... not a "buttons and lace" kid but cute, loving and perfect, nonetheless!!

 In New York City, SPRING has sprung on Park Avenue with beautiful, huge rose sculptures along much of the length of the street. In various shades...some with and without thorns and bugs, they certainly create the feeling that spring isn't far away. Take a look...

New York continues to be a most amazing, exciting and vibrant city...

EVEN in the rain!
