Here we are at the weekend again...where does the time go? My current POSTCARD CHALLENGE 2012 is due...this week, CANADA is the country!! One of our friends, Bahati, is visiting with the Harp Seals waaay up north! The saga continues as Bahati, is concerned about his missing friend and sponsor, Jarrod.  Jarrod, last seen in Paris, had a clandestine meeting in Pere Lachaise cemetery with a French and a Chinese official...something shady's going on! I feel it!! Here are the cards...

I loved the challenge just put forth by Yahoo Group, THINK MONDAY-THINK ATC. 

Can you guess what that challenge was?  Right! It was EYEGLASSES!! Somehow, I never imagined a cowboy with eyeglasses yet they must have worn them...or had something to aid poor vision.

  "Snow storm in March...where's SPRING?" 

Well, we finally got some snow today...an actual blizzard...after a rather snow-less winter! I love the white stuff...everything looks so pristine and peaceful under that fluffy white blanket!  

Some quick challenge responses that were fun... TAKE A WORD requested to see something MASCULINE... 

SUNDAY POSTCARD ART was longing for spring with its desire for DAFFODILS...

 COLLAGE OBSESSION had a bit of spring fever with its thoughts of leaves...

And finally, GREEN PAPER COLLAGE CHALLENGE gave participating artists three images to use in a collage...my final composition made me think of a young music teacher...like the ones who would travel from classroom to classroom with all their music supplies on a cart...remember them?

That's it for now...in the POSTCARD CHALLENGE 2012, the country for THIS week is Canada...that certainly covers a huge area!! Thinking I'll do something with the wonderful wildlife we've experienced waaaay up in the frozen north country...

TRAVELS BY POSTCARD

 "Inhale art...Exhale art...every day!" 

I've been catching up... visiting countries and creating a relationship between two young men... via postcards...that will continue for 52 weeks! It's for Darcy Wilkinson's POSTCARD CHALLENGE 2012.  I completed several of the required countries last week, and finished the rest just yesterday. The story between the two young men continues as well...both are travelers. One travels for the Peace Corps (Jarrod- from New York) and one just for fun (Bahati- from a small tribal village in Ethiopia) ...to see the world.  I've included the postcards we were asked to do as well as the messages...

I'm curious as to what will be the next country to which we'll be asked to journey... tune in for the next posting! These virtual journeys are so much fun and tremendous learning experiences. Michael and I have traveled to many of the places thus far, so I've used my own photos...

Postcard Challenge

ART and SOLE: POSTCARD CHALLENGE 2012 is a new challenge group (for me)  on Yahoo that has a fun premise ... like the book series by author/artist, Nick Bantock,  we're tasked to create two mythical characters who correspond with one another from all over the world through postcards from declared countries. I'm starting a bit late, but trying to catch up. We create the postcard, write our message as we would normally do, then insert it in a page created for that particular country. It's through the postcard messages that other artists learn what the story is between the two imaginary correspondents. My two guys met when one (from New York) was stationed in tribal Ethiopia with the Peace Corps. (The second correspondent lived in the village in southern Ethiopia.) They became friends and when the Ethiopian fellow finished his time at University, he was invited to New York to visit with his Peace Corps friend. After a stay (and an introduction and short education about first world countries,) the young Ethiopian fellow took off on his own, journeying bravely, around the world. 

These are my cards and correspondences thus far...

RANDOM CHALLENGES...

daughter dives

I can't

depth overwhelms    

My husband and daughter just returned from a week of scuba diving...the photos are beyond awesome! It's a world I'd love to experience, but the thought of being surrounded by all that water makes me claustrophobic!! I enjoy their dive experiences vicariously... and that's okay :)

A few challenges for this week, then I'm starting a new project: POSTCARD CHALLENGE 2012 for which I'll be doing a postcard a week, each from a different country... for 52 weeks. It'll be an imaginary correspondence between two people with lots of exploration and new experiences involved in each country...sounds like fun, doesn't it?

THIS WEEK, Sunday Postcard Art's interest leaned toward GOTHIC... 

 

Both Take a Word and The Three Muses loved the color TURQUOISE...

Inspiration Avenue didn't care what we did as long as it had TEXTURE!!

I had fun with Creavil Challenge Blog's request for HEAD GEAR...

Collage Obsession was obsessed with HANDS...
